Calcutta details will be announced when the 2015 Mares are in Foal!
Aljassimya Farm picked for the breeders challenge Om El Bellissimo as their stallion to breed with. We have already a few mares in foal to this wonderful sire for 2015 to be born, so we are looking forward to seeing a bigger group of his foals soon. In Poland this stallion scored well. The way I look at him as the breeding manager from Aljassimya Farm is the following: leggy, elegant, fine and dry boned, beautiful eyes, defined ears, nice well arched neck with good poll and clean throuthlatch. Decent mover with good tail carriage. For the foals born in 2015 we choose mares with a bit more body and chest, hoping he would bring the refinement. Non the less for this special breeders challenge we have decided to use the breeding for one of our best broodmares named RP Miss Surprise, she is by WH Justice out of a Laman daughter. RP Miss Surprise was going to be a top show mare for us but unfortunate she had a fracture that stopped her show carrier early. Meanwhile she was bred with three different stallions and produced us a great colt by Besson Carol, a super filly by Monther Al Nasser and a star filly by El Rasheem. In this way she proves to work along with each of the different sires she has been crossed with making her the universal all round broodmare. For 2015 she expects several pregnancies, all carried by recipient mares. RP Miss Surprise can be described as: excellent re-find feminine type, super neck set and arch, great long lines through her body with good croup and high tail set – carried in the most perfect way and a magnificent show attitude. Overall she is a refined mare, a touch short legged and I would like to see a bit better round eye, but I’m picky now! In this combination we hope to keep the neck, arch and the refined boned structure. So far RP Miss Surprise has given good showy and blowy attitudes to her foals, we hope she will do that again for this combination. Pedigree wise, its interesting as the combination of WH Justice to the Om El mares has brought several successes, this combination would just be the other way around. One thing we can be totally sure off …. it will be pretty and it will be showy!!
Janina and I chose our beautiful mare OM EL ALIHA to be bred to Pershaan El Jamaal. We feel that she is a wonderful mare to cross with him. Her pedigree is of Om El Arab royalty:
Her sire Om El Al Azeem (World Champion *Al Lahab x Om El Beneera by *Sharem El Sheikh) is a proven show horse and the sire of important champions. Om El Al Azeem was Scottsdale Gold Champion Stallion and U.S. National Reserve Junior Champion Stallion.
Her dam is our beloved Om El Shaina (World Champion stallion *Carmargue x Century mare *Estopa) who is the dam of many important horses including our head sire Om El Shahmaan.
Om El Aliha gifted us with a very special filly by the Champion Maker WH Justice named Om El Aisha Aljassimya. Aisha was elected by Sheikh Jassim and Bart Van Buggenhout to join their elite group of top show and breeding horses.
Pershaan El Jamaal is by Ali Jamaal. Ali Jamaal bred to the *Estopa lines has produced many outstanding show and breeding horses over the course of many years.
We feel very confident that Om El Aliha and Pershaan El Jamaal will give us an exceptional foal that will make Evergreen Arabians and Om El Arab very proud.
Sigi Siller for Om El Arab International
For Day Dream Arabians, Inc. I picked Om El Shahmaan out of our Breeder’s Challenge cup and I have decided to breed a lovely Showkayce+ daughter named Showlivia to him for our 2016 foal and the future winner of the Breeder’s Cup Challenge class!
My breeding decisions were based on the following criteria. Om El Arab has always used a high combination of Egyptian blood crossed on Spanish blood. I think that is a model to incorporate for my decision. However, my success at Day Dream Arabians has been based on the great blood of Kaiyoum, Fame VF, Bey Shah, Raffon, *Bask and his dam Balalajka and on a strong mix of Polish breeding, which has served us well as we try to breed great beauty as well as a smooth and complete horse that is a talented athlete who also, like the Om El horses, have beautiful huge eyes, and gorgeous Arabian type.
Therefore, my choice to breed Showlivia combines the foundation blood of Showkayce+ (her sire), with the Egyptian and Spanish cross of her mare line which is through the very beautiful mare Thee Queen Olivia (owned by Los Acres Farm) who carries the Egyptian line through Thee Desperado and the Spanish line through her straight Spanish dam Olivia De Brahim by the great *Sidi-Brahim and the mare line of *Galana I. I have used several of the mares from Los Acres in my program and I cherish what they have produced with Showkayce+. Om El Shahmaan also has a Polish and Crabbet influence which should cozy up nicely with Showlivia’s pedigree.
Of course the beauty and refinement of the mare is also a huge consideration and this mare has long been one of my favorite Showkayce+ daughters. She has a beautiful face, a long, fine neck, huge eyes, a smooth body and she is a wonderful mover.
In the spirit of great camaraderie and deep respect for all the breeders in the challenge, I say good luck to all and I like my chances!
